”I also find it funny how Noel mocks Liam’s unhinged behaviour; then I think it’s tragic. That attitude was typical of the Liam that Noel had encouraged all those years ago. Noel knew the media were intoxicated with the snorting, aggressive, working-class hero that Liam was. Perhaps all Liam wanted was acknowledgement from Noel, to hear ‘I couldn’t have done it without you’ just once. But with Noel, everybody has their time. Even his brother.’”

“There is his claim that Liam and he often fought with each other. I lived, worked, and played with them for over a decade. I never once saw them come to physical blows. Not once.”

October 1991, at the Boardwalk gig: ”We were also expecting Noel. Liam had invited him and seemed genuinely excited that his big (little) brother was coming to see us. ‘Let’s fucking make it a good one, let’s show him,’ he urged the rest of us. With this in mind, we headed out onto the stage. Liam was extra menacing that evening… After we had finished, Liam went out front to see Noel and ask him what he thought. ‘Fucking shit’, came the reply. Liam returned backstage, his fringe still stuck to his forehead with sweat. He was deflated after his brother’s cutting two-word review. Then BigUn entered the room, smiling. ‘Hey, your kid fucking loved that.’ Liam looked at him quizzically and asked, ‘How do you know that?’ BigUn then told Liam that Noel had been engrossed, excitedly telling Louise just how much potential the band had. Noel just couldn’t bring himself to tell Liam that. The news changed Liam’s mood instantly. This was the norm from Noel, who seldom showed any positive emotion towards Liam.”

Liverpool, late 1992: ““One evening in rehearsals (with the Real People) Noel was ready to show a song he had kept under wraps. He then went on to play ‘Live Forever’. When I say Noel could blow us out of the water with his compositions, I mean it… Liam had a look of pride in his eyes and kept glancing at each of us with a broad smile on his face. It was his ‘I Told You’ face. And he had. He had shown faith in his brother.”

November 1993, on M6, travelling to London: ‘“ ‘Fuck you, Noel.’ This was thrown from nowhere. Liam’s eyes flashed. Noel gave him a little smile, which he knew would only serve to further wind Liam up. ‘What the fuck you’re smiling at, you little shitbag.’ Noel’s eyes lit up. ‘Sit down, you prick, before you fall down.’

Noel”。

Los Angeles, September 1994: “We made our way to the Viper Room, with Liam and me leading the way while the rest of the band were a couple of minutes behind us. The two of us entered the club and waited just inside for the rest. Pap. Pap, pap. Gunfire rang from outside the door. Everyone in the club foyer dived for cover. Liam looked at me with panic in his eyes. ‘They’ve shot our Noel,’ he

yelled, as he turned 360 degress, unsure of what to do… Some unfortunate stranger had been gunned ust before the arrival of Noel, Bonehead and Guigs.”

Is Noel like a father figure to you?

Liam: “Is he fuck. He thinks he is but I don't listen to a word he says.”

Source missing (2005)

Liam:

Liam: “Listen right Steve, before we go any further, this chap (Noel), he’s not been bed-friendly the last couple of days, right.”

Noel: “Bed-friendly?”

Liam: “Bed-friendly.”

Noel: “Bed-friendly?”

Liam: “Friendly bed.”

Noel: “You ask my wife, I’m totally bed-friendly.”

Liam: “No, I’m on about bed-friendly.”

Noel: “What do you mean, bed-friendly?”

Liam: “Nothing to do with your wife.”

Noel: “Bed-friendly? Bed-friendly Hang on, I’m really friendly to my bed. I love my bed. And my bed loves me.

Liam: Yeah?

Noel: Bed friendly. You’re talking out your Tony McCarroll, mate.

Liam: Nothing to do with Tony McCarroll, shut up. Now what was the question again, before we got bed friendly?

Noel:

Liam:

Noel:

Liam:

Noel:

Liam:

Noel:

Liam:

Liam:

What did you think of Jill Furmanovsky’s exhibition? Have you been there?

Liam: Well, fans want to see pictures. If it did give anything to to fans of the band, then that’s cool… See, I don’t get anything out of the whole expedition ’cause I’ve seen it all.

Noel: ‘Expedition’?! ‘Expedition’?! [laughs] Where did you go marching into? The South Pole?

Liam: Oh, whatever… I’ve seen it all before. I’m not going, ‘Oh yeah, there’s a picture of Noel Gallagher’ – I’m arsed about pictures of Noel Gallagher, or Bonehead, or me, even. [To Noel] will you shut up, man?

Noel: [laughing] ‘Expedition’…

Liam: [laughing] Shut up, man… It’s for the fans, it’s not for the band, and that’s the end of it.

Steve: So, at the moment, apart from not being bed-friendly, you seem to be getting on really well.

Liam: I’m about to knock the cunt fucking right out.

Steve: Is it always like this? Is it always on this edge, though?

Noel: Hey, listen. We’re on this really big, loved-up expedition. The pair of us, we’re on a big loved-up expedition and we’re gonna go and build two love-heart-shaped igloos in the South Pole—

Liam: Noel, shut up, man.

Noel: —and we’re gonna walk across the icy wastelands with tennis racquets.

Liam: Yeah. Bollock-naked with paintings of John Lennon on our willies, man.

Noel: On our expedition.

Noel:

Steve:

Liam:

Steve:

Noel

Noel:…

Noel:

==============

Noel: \"I don't eat the right things, and I'm not one for skipping round the park, you know, with the dog at six o'clock in the morning.\"

Q: \"Like someone else.\"

Noel: \"Like some- yeah.\" (Laughs)

Noel:

[...]

Q: \"The brother seems to be settling down into the home life and domestic bliss and watching Spongebob and going on The F Word and giving salmon receipes out to music magazines and all the rest, that's not something you wanna

get into, no?\"

Noel: \"Yeah, but is he watching Spongebob or is Spongebob watching him?\"

Q: \"I think he hasn't figured that out himself to be quite honest with you.\"

Noel: (laughing) \"You know... I mean, you know. Bless him. You know, he's kinda been through... Listen, his life was madder than all the rest of ours put together. Between 95 and... whenever it was he put the salmon on. D'you know what I mean. He lived it, and he lived it for all of us, and he lived it for all the people that couldn't be in London at that time and could read about, and he was doing it 24 hours a day, seven days a week, you know. And he can't be arsed anymore. Good for him. You know. It makes for a better professional life if he's overdosing on salmon and not on illegal drugs.\"
