All 3 – D glasses have the same purpose: to bring different images to each eye. 3 – D content has two sets of images, one for each eye, that are slightly offset (偏移). When the separate images hit each eye, the brain senses them together as a three – dimensional image.
Anaglyph glasses are a “passive” form of 3 – D, meaning they just filter out certain things naturally. One image is projected on a screen with a blue color, and the other with red. The blue lens (镜片) only lets the red image through, and the red lens only lets the blue image through, so each eye sees a slightly different image. It doesn’t have to be red and blue; there are many color combinations that work, but red /blue and red / green are most common.
Although anaglyphs can create a good sense of distance, they damage the quality of the sensed color. That’s why the anaglyph 3 – D content has been declining in recent years.
The next type of passive 3 – D involves polarized (偏振) glasses, which work similarly to anaglyphs. Instead of using colored lenses, the lenses are polarized, meaning they only let certain light through.
By displaying one image that is polarized “up and down”, another image that is polarized “left and right” and having each lens only let one of the two types of light through, these glasses can achieve a 3 – D effect. This can be very effective and does not have the color problems associated with anaglyphs. For this reason, polarized 3 – D glasses are the technology of chose for most 3 – D content in movie theaters.
The most recent type of 3 – D glasses, called shutter glasses. Instead of having two slightly different images displayed at the same time and filtering one to each eve, shutter glasses make each lens go dark and then transparent again at the same time with the images displayed on the screen. When the screen displays the image for the left eye, the right lens will go dark so that only the left eye can see it. Then, when the image for the right eye is displayed, the opposite happens. This is why shutter glasses are called an “active” 3 – D technology.
66.The role of 3 – D glasses is to . A.ensure the separate images hit each eye B.form a 3 – D image in each eye C.prevent images from being separated D.provide each eye with the same image
67.According to the passage, anaglyph glasses . A.provide good color quality B.make images have unnatural colors C.block multi – colored images D.result in a poor sense of distance 68.Why are polarized glasses popular in movie theatres? A.They relay on light waves to send images. B.They make full use of the colored lenses.
C.They offer high quality colors. D.They can show two different images at the same time. 69.According to the passage, shutter glasses . A.give people a comfortable view of the film B.make people feel themselves part of the film C.make people watch the image with only one eye D.blank people’s view one at a time
70.The purpose of the passage is to . A.introduce three kinds of 3 – D glasses B.advertise 3 – D shutter glasses C.give advice on how to choose 3 – D glasses D.explain how 3 – D images are formed Part IV Writing(45 marks) Section A (10 marks)

Credit cards are very popular today. People use credit card to go shopping on the Internet, check into a hotel, rent a car, or dine out. People can buy now and pay later. A credit card may have a number of costs. First, there is the interest charge on purchase, known as the annual percentage rate. Cardholders may have to pay cash advance fees if they withdraw money from credit cards.
Compared to checks, a credit card allows small short – term loans to be quickly made to a customer who need not calculate a balance remaining before every transaction. Additionally there is no need for a customer to carry any cash for most purposes. Credit cards also offer consumers an easy way to track expenses.
Credit cards are very convenient to use. But people who use credit cards irresponsibly can soon find themselves heavily in debt. Cardholders borrow money from a bank each time they charge something. They avoid interest charges if they pay their bill in full each month. But if they only make the minimum payment, it may take years to pay off a debt. Interest is continually charged on the unpaid balance.
And that is not they only danger. Information security is a major issue these days. Recently there have been several incidents in which many people had financial information either lost or stolen. The cardholder suffered great losses. Now, major banks in China get more cautions in issuing caused by the card overdrafts(透支).
Measures can be taken to avoid the problems. A lost or stolen card can be canceled in time, which will greatly limit the fraud. European banks require a cardholder’s security code he entered for purchases with the card. In July, 2009, The China Banking Regulatory Commission forbade the issuing of credit cards to under 18 – year – old age group.
Section B (10 marks) Directions: Read the following passage.Answer the questions according to the information given in the passage.
Planting trees around poultry farms can improve air and water quality – and relations with neighbors. Research has shown that just three rows of trees near poultry houses can reduce the release of dust and ammonia (氨). They can also reduce the strong odor of ammonia gas.
The trees take dust, ammonia and odors in their leaves. They also provide shade from the sun, so they reduce cooling costs in summer. And they act as a windbreak, so they reduce heating costs in winter. Trees can also improve water quality around farms by removing pollutions from soil and groundwater.
Several years ago, people were objecting to the odor of poultry farms on the Delmarva Peninsula in the eastern United States. Delmarva is where the states of Delaware, Maryland and Virginia come together. Two thousand farms there can each house and average of seventy – five thousand chickens.
Traditionally the farms used windows to provide fresh air in the chicken houses. Farmers rarely planted trees or tall crops around the buildings, so there would be no barrier to the airflow.
But then farms began to use new ventilation systems. Instead of windows, the new systems used tunnel fans to circulate air. The fans directed airflow from the poultry houses toward the homes of neighbors.
Researchers began dealing with the problem in 2000. They found that over a period of six years, planting three rows of trees reduced total dust and ammonia by more than half. And they found that smells were reduced by 18%.
Farmers may think trees will take too long to grow and be effective. But some trees can grow quickly. At least one – third of the Delmarva farms have planted trees, technically known as vegetative environmental buffers. The idea offers a way to cut pollution, save money and energy, and make the neighbors happy.
