建筑实体、能指及所指在设计中的交互作用研究

South China AgriAbstract:Choosing the sewage—treating building in Guangdong Medical College as the research sample and the expressing of sustainable function building as the discussing topic,the possibility of using the tangible architecturallanguage to express the intangible architectural meaning was analyzed’that is’the process oi architecturaI design was restricted by the interaction of symbol,reference and referent・ And the referent factor, the symbo1 factor and the reference factor make up the symbolizing Semiotic Triangle in the architectural designing process. On one hand, the designer can create the descriptive scene by US1ng the architecturaI entities(referent).On the other hand,the designer can emphasize the meaning of referent with the methods as contextual response and aesthetic impact or so on.Ultimately,the process of experiencing the building is converted to the theme of architectural symbols(reference).This method is a way to combine the designing process with the aesthetics of symbo1.Consequently,the designing thoughtway was conveyed with the interaction of architectura1 referent, symbol and reference, endow the new way of thinking for the designing of sustainable function building. Key words:referent;symbol;reference;sustainable development CLC number:TU201 Document code:A Article ID:1672_7037(2007)01—0093—04 The process of architectural design is restricted by the interaction of symbol,reference and referent--what is called“triangle”relation。 The designing behavior is sustainable within the triangle.[1】 Responsibility awakens the reference of architecture—paying close attention to the benefi-Figure 1 The semiotic cial cycle between sur—triangle The Referent factor depends on the tangible shape of architectural symbo1.This sewage- treating building is composed of two distinctive individual entities.The external one is made up of a continuous beam—pillar frame taking on right angles,extending to another direction and forming a rectangular space.This frame complies with the general plane gridding system which is defined by the surrounding buildings.It shows that the building is conforming to the logical relationship of its architectural roundings,health and safety,which is a new professional criterion.The architect performs his social duty by placing special emphasis on the energy conservation,ecotype and the cyclic environment. The other entity is a functional body below the upper external frame,and it consists of the monitoring,dewatering and equipment rooms. This functiona1 entity establishes another gridding system at a new plane angle・Being a folding structure,it emphasizes the“four— utilization of resources,and implants lofty in the users through the architectural symbols and new moral criterion[ . 1 Referent:the creation of des- criptive scene dimension continuity”,that is,the natural joints in the east and west among the roofs,the side Received Date:2006-04-25. This sewage—treating building is composed designer puts emphasis on the overlap and impact each other,the shape of the functional entity is split and puckered.Such folding action breaks through the rectangular space which is defined by the external frame,thus a dramatic confliction is created. The two different—form individual parts of distinctive individual entities embodied by svmbols,whose external frames are made up of continuous beam—pillar blocks taking on right angles,extending to another direction and forming an integrated gridding system.The form a dramatic scene as a conflicting integral, demonstrating a dramatic relation symbolize a socia1 miniature of developing China in the process of sustainable development.The first part forms an outside rectangular space and implies a great social stage which represents the old rule—restricted short—sighted conduct.The second part breaks through the outside rectangular space and represents the long— sighted innovating conduct.They are separated from each other,their relation reflects that,no matter how seriously restricted by stubborn ideas,the sustainable—development cause is still vivid with life,which makes a world—wide appeal for reform and development and shows the significance of the China reconstruction. Figure 2 The gridding systems of the two entities overlap and impact each other 2 Symbol:contextual response and aesthetic impact 2.1 Architectural symbol for sustainable deve— lopment “Sustainment”is an architectural attitude, which is embodied by the form and structure of this sewage—treating building,especially by the vivid architectural symbols that make abstract functional bodies of the building hide in the external frames and embody the“functional, sDacial and visual continuities,,, i. e.the sustainable ideal that is implied in the complete sewage—treating process consmtlng of the monitoring,dewatering and equipment rooms・ The architect puts emphasis on the“four— dimension continuity”.that is.on the upper Darts in the east and west,on the natural joints between the side walls and the ground,and on the opening and freedom in the south and north. Figure 3 The sustainable shape and the Chinese symbol of“water” 2.2 The context symbol for“water” To the designer’s mind,the building means not only a sewage—treating machine but also a beautiful campus sculpture as cultural perspectivity,that is,the vertical bar—shape windows on the west white wall wisely form a Chinese ancient character ‘‘water" which demonstrate the theme for this building[引.The impressed sand—like watermarks on the south and north glass curtains embody the water ripples which show that the building is a cubic of water,certainly transparent,pure and clean.It 维普资讯 http://www.cqvip.com

第1期 郭吴栩等:建筑实体、能指及所指在设计中的交互作用研究 ・95・ is taken for granted that the reasonable and perceptual senses,functions and culture merge into one organic whole,thus bringing about harmonic beauty. 3 Reference:building life—time estimation and environmental methodology 3.1 Ecological quality and energy conservation The designer pays special attention to the protection of the ecosystem,thus allowing the building to coexist and even to merge into one organic whole with the surroundings.For this purpose,the sewage—treating building is set as a white geometric body on the greenbelt,adorning the original natural ecotype,its north—south glass curtain leading the two—side landscapes to penetrate each other,and the whole building either appearing or hiding itself in the natural ecotype L . Figure 4 The functional entity breaking through the outside rectangular space A ventilating route is arranged through the gable walls of two sides in the direction of the leading wind,thus forming draught,i.e. natural ventilation.The building is well—lighted by a large area of glass curtains,namely to bring about natural lighting and cutting down lighting electric power.The glass on the curtains is pressed corrugated jalousies to minimize the effect of sunlight upon the room temperature. By using his own knowledge and skill the architect manages to keep his art works embodying the consciousness so as to make sustainable—development use of natural resources.In the long run,the function of this sewage—treating is to purify sewage to bring about the reuse of water resource. 3.2 Economic performance and compatibility The built—up area of this building is 277 m , the architect of which makes it exercise multifold functions with simple architectural symbols-- controlling the qualities of building materials and the cost,and protecting water resources and ecotype.At the present time,it is economically feasible so far as the resource deposition is concerned;in the long run,it is worth while to be spread.This building is characteristic of modern architecture,that js,the architectural blocks and the shape of the building symbolize its peculiarity and reflect the adaptability with the surroundings,the transparent external curtains show the inside machinery set in order. The sewage—treating process is expressed by the beauty of all equipment,and the ideals in the reuse of water resources and in the sustainable development are spread. 4 Concl usion “To meet the demands for the current development and not to rob our later generations of their demands”implies two key concepts-the future and resource protection[引.The future makes the generation nowadays responsible for the later generations’demands,that is,allowing our celestial body to last forever in a healthy form and enabling all later generations to have equal rights to share natural resources. The establishment of referent.symbol and reference provides a thinking mode,not linear but cyclic,namely the sustainable architectural design must give consideration to the continuing later generations’demands for their living conditions.In other words,the later generations have permanent rights to equally share all natural resources no matter what classes they belong to and what regions and countries they live in,which means making a decision in democratic form and meeting the need of community[引. 维普资讯 http://www.cqvip.com
