Shanghai - A Wonderful Place to Visit
Have you ever been to Shanghai? It's one of the biggest and most exciting cities in China! I was so lucky to go there with my family last summer. We had an amazing time exploring all the incredible sights and sounds. Let me tell you all about our fantastic trip to Shanghai!
The first thing that blew me away was just how massive and modern Shanghai is. It has the second tallest building in the world - the Shanghai Tower which is a whopping 632 meters or 2,073 feet tall! We went up to the observation deck on the 118th floor and the view was absolutely breathtaking. You could see the entire city stretching out forever with its thousands of skyscrapers and apartment buildings. The highways looked like ribbons of color weaving between all the giant towers. It was incredible!
Shanghai is a city that truly never sleeps. No matter what time of day or night, the streets are always jam-packed with people, cars, and fascinating sights. The neon lights and huge digital billboards are dazzling, especially along the famous Nanjing Road. We spent hours just wandering around gawking
at everything. There are shops, restaurants, theaters, and more - you could spend weeks there and still not see it all!
One of the highlights was getting to explore the older parts of Shanghai too. We visited the Yu Garden, which was first built way back in 1559 during the Ming Dynasty. It's full of beautiful pavilions, rockeries, ponds, and trees. Walking through the winding paths felt like being transported back in time hundreds of years. So peaceful and serene in the middle of this huge modern city!
We also went to the Bund area along the Huangpu River. This waterfront district has tons of impressive buildings from the 1800s and early 1900s when Shanghai was the most important financial hub in Asia. The architecture there blends Chinese and European styles in really neat ways. At night, the entire area lights up and the views across the river of the Pudong skyline are just magical.
Of course, you can't go to Shanghai without sampling as much delicious food as possible! My favorite was the incredible soup dumplings called xiaolongbao. The broth inside is crazy good. We also had amazing noodle dishes, dumplings, buns, and barbeque. Shanghai has food from all over China plus lots of
international cuisine too. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!
For fun, we visited the Shanghai Circus World to see daring acrobats do stunts and tricks. They were flying through the air and contorting their bodies in jaw-dropping ways. The costumes and sets were so colorful and beautiful too. We also went to the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium which had cool sharks, rays, and all sorts of other marine creatures inside these gigantic tanks. So much to see and do!
Shanghai has so much more that we missed too - like Disneyland, the amazing Shanghai Museum, the Jade Buddha Temple, and loads of other temples, gardens, and historical sites. You could spend months there as a tourist and still have things left to check out. It's such a huge, vibrant city bursting with life. I absolutely loved our trip to Shanghai. It opened my eyes to a fascinating blend of ancient traditions and cutting-edge modernity. The food, sights, and energy of the city were just incredible. I'd go back to Shanghai in a heartbeat to explore more of this amazing place! If you ever get the chance, you have to experience the wonder and excitement of Shanghai for yourself. It's a city like no other on Earth.
