Shanghai - An Amazing Place to Visit

Have you ever been to Shanghai? It's one of the biggest and most exciting cities in China and one of my favorite places in the whole world! I was so lucky to visit Shanghai last summer with my family. We had an amazing time exploring all the incredible sights and trying delicious foods. Let me tell you all about our incredible trip to Shanghai!

Our journey began when we stepped off the airplane at Pudong International Airport. I had never seen such a massive and modern airport before. The ceilings seemed to stretch up forever and there were people from all over the world rushing about. After collecting our luggage, we hopped in a taxi and headed to our hotel in the heart of the city. I'll never forget my first glimpses of the iconic Shanghai skyline out the taxi window - it took my breath away! The skyscrapers seemed to touch the clouds and their sparkling glass and steel exteriors shimmered in the sunlight. Shanghai is a city that truly never sleeps.

We stayed at an awesome hotel right on the historic Bund waterfront. Our room had an incredible view overlooking the Huangpu River and the futuristic Pudong financial district on the opposite side. At night, the whole area lit up with dazzling neon lights and laser light shows. It looked like a scene straight out of a science fiction movie!

The next morning, we headed out bright and early to explore the Bund on foot. This waterfront area is lined with historic banks, trade houses, and hotels that were built in the 1800s and early 1900s. The architecture is a fascinating blend of Chinese and European Renaissance styles with grand columns, arches, and intricate stone carvings. As we wandered along the Bund, we passed street performers, artists selling paintings, and vendors with snack carts. I tried fresh juicy jianbing crepes and warm sugary nian gao rice cakes - they were so yummy!

From the Bund, we could look across the river at the iconic Oriental Pearl TV Tower and the incredibly tall Shanghai Tower - the second tallest building in the world at 2,073 feet! We took a sightseeing tunnel under the river to go see these massive skyscrapers up close in the Lujiazui financial district of Pudong. It felt like we had stepped into the future! The buildings had such interesting and unique curved designs with spirals of steel and

glass. We even got to go up to one of the observation decks high in the sky and got a 360 degree view of the entire city below us. It was both amazing and a little terrifying being that high up! Another highlight was exploring the Old City area and immersing ourselves in Shanghai's rich history. We wandered the narrow winding lanes and saw craftspeople hard at work using ancient skills to make things like clay teapots, wooden combs, and stringed instruments. The most famous area was the incredible Yuyuan Garden complex with its beautiful pagodas, rock gardens, ponds, and Dragon Wall sculpture. It was like stepping back in time to ancient imperial China.

And of course, no trip to Shanghai would be complete without sampling as much delicious food as possible! We had amazing soup dumplings called xiao long bao that were filled with hot flavorful broth. We tried fresh hot and crispy sheng jian bao pan-fried buns. We snacked on juicy xiaolongxia little dragon soup dumplings shaped liked cute little baby dragons. For dessert, we had light and fluffy sponge cakes, egg tarts, and sweet soups with weird but delicious ingredients like beans, sesame, and glutinous rice balls. My taste buds were doing flips with all the incredible flavors!

We also got to experience some super cool attractions like walking along the Bund Sightseeing Elevated Walkway high up in the air with an amazing view of the skyline. We watched the most spectacular acrobatics show that seemed to defy the laws of physics. And we even went to the top of the Shanghai World Financial Center skyscraper and got to walk out on the incredible 100th floor observation deck with just a clear glass floor between us and the buildings far below - it was terrifying but so cool! Overall, Shanghai was one of the most memorable and exciting trips I've ever been on. The city has such an amazing mix of modern and ancient, east and west. There's always something new and fascinating to discover around every corner. The food, the sights, the culture - everything about Shanghai is vibrant, dynamic, and absolutely unforgettable. I can't wait to go back again someday and explore even more of this incredible world city!

Shanghai - A Wonderful Place to Visit

Hi there! My name is Lily and I'm a 10-year-old girl from Shanghai. Today, I want to tell you all about my hometown and

why it's such an amazing place to visit. Get ready for an adventure!

Shanghai is a huge city with over 24 million people living here. It's like a giant playground with so many cool things to see and do. The first thing you'll notice is all the tall buildings and skyscrapers. They're like giants reaching up to the sky! The tallest one is called the Shanghai Tower, and it's a whopping 632 meters (2,073 feet) high. That's taller than any building in the United States or Europe!

One of my favorite places in Shanghai is the Bund. It's a long, beautiful walkway along the Huangpu River. On one side, you can see all the modern skyscrapers, and on the other side, there are old European-style buildings from the 1800s. It's like a cool mix of old and new! At night, the whole area lights up and it looks absolutely magical.

Another must-see spot is Yu Garden. It's a traditional Chinese garden that's over 400 years old! It has beautiful ponds, bridges, and pagodas (those are like fancy towers). You can walk around and imagine what it was like to live in ancient China. There are also lots of little shops and restaurants nearby where you can buy souvenirs and try delicious Chinese snacks like xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) and jianbing (a kind of crepe).

If you love animals, you'll want to visit the Shanghai Zoo. They have pandas, which are my favorite! Pandas are these cute black-and-white bears that mostly eat bamboo. The zoo also has elephants, giraffes, and even a reptile house with snakes and lizards (don't worry, they're safely behind glass!).

For all you science geeks out there, the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum is a total blast. They have hands-on exhibits where you can learn about everything from space exploration to robotics. You can even ride in a simulator that makes you feel like you're blasting off in a rocket ship!

Now, let's talk about food. Shanghai has some of the best cuisine in the world. My personal favorite is xiaolongbao (those soup dumplings I mentioned earlier). They're little dumplings filled with hot broth and meat, and they're so delicious! You'll also want to try shengjianbao (pan-fried buns), niangao (a sticky rice cake), and hairy crab (a type of crab that's only available in the fall).

Of course, no visit to Shanghai would be complete without shopping. The Nanjing Road is a famous pedestrian street with hundreds of shops and malls. You can find everything from designer clothes to tasty snacks to cool electronics. Just be prepared for huge crowds, especially on weekends!

If you're looking for souvenirs, head to the City God Temple Bazaar. It's an outdoor market with tons of little shops selling things like traditional Chinese fans, chopsticks, tea sets, and more. It's the perfect place to find unique gifts for your friends and family back home.

One thing you'll quickly notice about Shanghai is how modern and high-tech it is. The subway system is incredible – it's like a giant underground city with trains that can take you almost anywhere in just minutes. And everywhere you go, people are using their smartphones to pay for things, order food, and even unlock their apartment doors!

But Shanghai isn't just about the city life. There are some great places to explore nature too. One of my favorites is Chongming Island, which is a short ferry ride away. It has beautiful beaches, forests, and even a few small villages where you can see what rural life in China is like.

Another cool natural spot is Sheshan Hill. It's a tall hill (actually, it's more like a small mountain) with an observatory at the top. On a clear day, you can see all the way across Shanghai from up there. It's also a great place for hiking and picnics. As you can probably tell, I absolutely love my city! Shanghai - A Wonderful Place to Visit

Hello everyone! My name is Lily and I'm 10 years old. Last summer, my family and I went on an amazing trip to Shanghai, China. It was the first time I had been to China and I was so excited! Shanghai is a huge city with over 24 million people living there. It's known for its bright lights, tall skyscrapers, and wonderful mixture of modern and traditional Chinese culture. I had the best time exploring this incredible place. Let me tell you all about it!

Our first stop was the Bund, which is this beautiful waterfront area in central Shanghai. One side has classic European-style buildings that used to belong to banks and trading houses. The other side has futuristic skyscrapers with cool designs. Walking along the Bund at night with all the buildings lit up in different colors was magical! My favorite skyscraper is the Oriental Pearl Tower with its bright spheres and epic light show.

From the Bund, we took a boat cruise along the Huangpu River. It was so relaxing gliding past the shiny skyscrapers while eating delicious xiaolongbao soup dumplings. The river bends in a cool way so you can see both the modern Pudong area and the older Puxi area side-by-side. I loved spotting famous buildings like the glass spiral Shanghai Tower and the bottle-shaped Shanghai World Financial Center.

Another highlight was Yu Garden, a beautiful Chinese garden built during the Ming Dynasty over 400 years ago. Walking through the winding paths and seeing the ponds, rock formations, and old buildings decorated with dragons felt like being transported back to ancient China. My brother and I had so much fun exploring the maze-like corridors and tunnels. At one point, we accidentally got lost in the garden's bazaar area filled with shops and snack vendors!

Speaking of snacks, the food in Shanghai was out of this world! We had mouth-watering noodle and dumpling dishes galore. Xiaolongbao was my favorite - those little soup dumplings with tasty pork and broth inside. I must have eaten hundreds of them! We also tried delicacies like crispy Peking duck, shengjianbao pan-fried buns, and congyoubing flaky scallion pastries. Everything was so flavorful. For dessert, we had amazing mango pudding, egg tarts, and more.

The museums in Shanghai were excellent too. At the

Shanghai Museum, I got to see priceless ancient Chinese bronzes, jade carvings, pottery, and calligraphy up close. The Shanghai Science and Technology Museum had the coolest interactive science exhibits on everything from space travel to robots. I spent hours playing and learning there. We also went to the fascinating Shikumen Open House Museum, which shows what life was like for wealthy Chinese families in the 1920s.

No trip to Shanghai would be complete without seeing the famous French Concession neighborhood. This area used to be controlled by the French, so the architecture is a unique mix of Chinese and European styles. We wandered along the tree-lined streets admiring the cute Tudor houses, courtyards, and cafes. I felt like I had traveled to Paris for a little bit!

We also spent a day at the massive Shanghai Disney Resort which has the biggest Disney castle in the world and rides like the TRON Lightcycle Power Run coaster and Soaring Over the Horizon flight simulator. I had a total blast going on all the thrilling rides and seeing the incredible shows like Ignite the Night fireworks.

One thing I really appreciated about Shanghai was how green and park-filled it is for such a densely populated city. We visited amazing places like Century Park with its scenic lakes and gardens, and Fuxing Park which had gorgeous peony flowers and an adorable panda exhibit. It was wonderful having lush, peaceful green spaces to escape the city's hustle and bustle. Overall, my family and I absolutely loved our time in Shanghai. It's such a fascinating city that blends the latest technology and modern skyscrapers with amazing history, culture, and natural scenery. The food was outstanding and the attractions were endless fun. I made so many wonderful memories and can't wait to go back someday. Shanghai is truly one of the world's greatest cities to explore!
