Should One Expect a Reward When Doing a Good Deed?

In past several decades, owning to the fantastic development of society, many traditional views are changed. And nowadays the following topic has around public attention. Some people argue that it is absolutely correct for one to expect a reward when doing a good deed, while others hold opposite view.

It is pointed out by a great many people that one should not expect any reward when doing a goog deed. They believe that good deeds belong to voluntary service, purely out of willingness, which has nothing to do with expectation of rewards. In other words, people do good deed is not because

intending to obtain money or returns from others, but because wishing to do so and feeling honored, respected and needed. As a result, doing good deeds will be an essential source of one's happiness, pleasure and even pride.

However, people who agree a fresh view claim that people should be

rewarded for doing good deed, because those warm-hearted and nice people will sacrifice their own benefits.Suppose those people cannot obtain any praise and reward, will they still manage to do good deeds? The answer will not be

optimistic.Logically, they emphasize that proper and proportionate rewards will definitely encourage people in ever increasing numbers to help those who are in trouble.

Weighing the pros and cons of both two sides,I believe every view has its own reasons.Nevertheless,I cherish a belief that rewards, although many people do good deeds in order not to gain any reward, will gradually and eventually increase the number of people who expect to help people.

学习和生活产生的影响 The Digital Age

Living in the digital age, we are unavoidably exposed to all kinds of digital products, such as digital camera, digital computer, digital television, and so on, which grow in an increasing categories and quantities. Believe it or not, look around yourself and you can easily find one or two of these stuffs.

Here is a question, what kind of influence do the digital products bring to people’s life.? Frankly speaking, these modern digital products offer us a more convenient life than before. For example, the digital camera makes it possible to delete or correct the “unsuccessful” photo of ours, which was impossible with the traditional camera. While, unfortunately, these fashionable digital items have cultivated a generation more isolated from the real life. It is hard to imagine that a man so accustomed to the digital mobile on-line chatting can be capable of the practical communication with others. Finally, too much dependent on the digital things, human seem to be more indifferent to the real world, which we, though reluctant to admit, have to accept.

Thus, as the generation assailed by all kinds of digital miracles, we might as well initiatively avoid some of them despite efficiency and comfort they can supply. Don’t forget those old days when you were going to visit an old school friend though there would be a long train journey, which, in today’s digital era, has been thoroughly replaced by the digital on-line chatting.

How to improve psychological health?

As is known to all, psychological health is as important as, if not more important than, physical health for a student during his/her growth. However, it’s quite worrying that nowadays some students are not quite psychologically healthy.

Undoubtedly, schools and universities should take great account in the responsibilities of students’ psychological health. Relevant courses and activities should be introduced to students so that they would be more aware of the significance of psychological health and find appropriate ways to maintain and improve it. For example, there should be a psychological counseling hotline or office for students to turn to when they need some psychological aid.

Of course no psychological health can be obtained without the efforts from the students themselves. From my perspective, what they can do is trying to stay positive, optimistic and follow the right guidelines from their schools. To be more specific, they can participate in some activities such as voluntary work to cultivate an opening and caring mind. Meanwhile, harmful impacts from the cyber space should definitely be avoided.

Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled On the Importance of a Name. you shuold write at least 150 words following the outline given below. 1. 有人说名字或名称很重要

2. 也有人觉得名字或名称无关紧要 3. 我认为

On the Importance of a Name

Recently, it is universally acknowledged that due attention has to be paid to the importance of name. To begin with, a large number of people assert that one’s name can exert profound influence on the success of a person or institution. In addition, some even maintain that the mental health and physical fitness of a person will be influenced or even determined by his or her name.

On the contrary, it is the view of a great many people that one’s name is of little significance. I can think of no better illustration than the following ones. “Qiu”, which means “hill”, is the name of Confucius, the greatest thinker, philosopher and educator throughtout history. Likewise, another case in point is Lao Zi, the founder of philosophical and religious Taoism, whose name is “er”, which means “the ear”. These examples effectively clarify that one’s future is only determined by his striving spirit, talent or intelligence rather than some mysterious and superstitious factors such as certain names or lucky numbers.

As for me, significance should be attached to intelligence, persistence and diligence instead of one’s name. Given all the above arguments, it is high time that we put an end to this undesirable phenomenon.

Should Parents Send Their Kids to Art Classes?

A child’s world is supposed to be fresh and new and beautiful, full of wonder and excitement. Unfortunately, this is not the case for some kids, especially for those born and bred in cities-their joys are dimmed and even lost because a majority of them are forced to attend various art classes.

Some claim that it is beneficial for children’s development. They might have their reasons because most parents are convinced that their kids are gifted gifts from the god. They presume that the earlier their children are exposed to arts, the more

likely it is to find out the artistic potential hidden in them. Even if their children fail to become another child prodigy like Lang Lang or Li Yundi, the interests in arts, say, in music, cultivated in childhood will be of great value in their whole life.

In spite of the possible benefits mentioned, I, like others, am strongly against it. The major harm is that it might deprive children of their pleasure to play after school. Faced with competition and contest for better universities, most children are buried in piles of homework. Forcing them to art classes will leave them less time to enjoy the beauty of the nature or to find their talent in things they are really interested in.

To sum up, childhood is a time for children to play as they wish. Rather than cramming knowledge, it is more important to pave the way for their desire to know than to put them on a diet of facts they are not ready to assimilate.

Due Attention Should Be Given to the Study of Chinese

With the remarkable improvement of peoples’ living standard. It’s commonly believed that English is playing an increasing important role in our life. And the ignorance of learning Chinese has become a serious problem in recent years.

This phenomenon deserve our attention and it was supported by several reasons. As we all know, there is an increasing number of students want to study abroad. And good at English is the precondition for studying abroad. From another perspective, students should try their utmost to learn English well, so that they can pass the exam and get their certificate. It’s undeniable that we put more emphasis on learning English and neglect the studying of Chinese at the same time. If we don’t take some effective methods to deal with problem in time. Our unique culture will replaced by other culture in this competitive world. And the most difficulty words in the world will disappear sooner or later.

It’s high time for us to pay more attention on learning Chinese. On one part of university, the Chinese should put into the required course. On the other part, the company shouldn’t view students’ ability merely through their English ability. On no account can we ignore the value of learning Chinese.

My Views on University Ranking

Nobody could have failed to notice the fact that university ranking has gained increasing popularity --- institutions home and abroad are always interested in it; newspapers and magazines are fond of carrying the news. Unfortunately, it has also given rise to some problems never thought of. Confronted with the dilemma, should we carry on the practice? When it comes to this question, people’s views vary from one to another.

People who support ranking have their reasons. They are convinced that it can stimulate people, teachers and students alike, to work harder so that they can climb on the ladder or at least maintain their position. In this way, universities can produce more talents and knowledge demanded by our society. Also, supporters of university ranking maintain that it can act as a guide for employers when they decide where to find right employees.

But others may not agree. These people would argue that university ranking might force universities to care more about

their position in the ranking but not about research that they are expected to do. For instance, it is often reported that some professors spend more time in bribing than in labs in order to have an edge in the fierce competition. Another good case in point is that some scholars even sacrifice their integrity to plagiarize under the pressure of “publish or perish”.

Who is right? Of course both sides have their reasons. As far as I am concerned, we might as well stop the practice for the good of universities and society. Universities are a place for free academic study. Only when scholars are free to in their pursuits, can they make contribution to society. 2011年6月大学英语六级

The Certificate Craze

In recent years, to get a certificate has become a hot topic among people, especially among the young and heated debates are right on their way.

A number of factors could account for the problem, but the following are the most critical ones. College students in growing numbers are beginning to believe that get a certificate contributes directly to enhancing their future job opportunities or promotion opportunities. The pressure of employment makes college students be more inclined to get various certificates. What’s more Many parents and teachers believe that additional educational activities enjoy obvious advantage. By preparing certificate test , they maintain, their children are able to obtain many kinds of practical skills and useful knowledge, which will put them in a beneficial position in the future job markets .

After a thorough consideration, for my part, I am in favor of being more rational when it comes to certificates, since certificates do not necessarily prove one’s ability. Being crazy in getting certificates blindly will definitely leads to wasting of time. The students should enhance their awareness of the importance of ability. To conclude, we should focus on improving our ability but not getting a certificate of no practical value.

Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled The Way to Success by commenting on Abraham Lincoln's famous remark, \"Give me six hours to chop down a tree, and I will spend, the first four sharpening the axe.\" You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.

The Way to Success

Success is something everyone looks for, longs for and dies for. But have you ever considered what success is? Some may hold that success means one has beautiful life, like pretty house, cool cars and great power. It’s indeed one way to define success. But to me, success is doing something one really feels like doing.

To achieve this kind of success, one has to bear in mind three essential prerequisites, namely knowing where your interest really lies in, possessing the strong will to pursue your interest and having the diligence to realize your dream. In other words, they are “what” “why” and “how” of success. It’s really luckily good for one, especially for the younger generation of today to find their dreams, follow them and in the end, make them come true and become successful.

Although it’s never easy to succeed, progressing with the strong will and diligence towards the right direction, you’ll be the one.

Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled The Impact of the Internet on Interpersonal Communication. Your essay should start with a brief description of the picture. You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words。

The Impact of the Internet on Interpersonal Communication

In contemporary society, our life is filled with a variety of

anecdotes or stories, and the following is no exception: \"Dad:Hi sweetie, how was school, today? Daughter: You can read all about it on my blog, Dad.\" This conversation can be naturally associated with the impacts of Internet on our life: In an era of Internet, the time for interpersonal communication is impaired by online chats or blogs.

Apparently, the impacts of the Internet on interpersonal communication are diverse. For one thing, as a vital invention, Internet brings great convenience to our communication, eliminates the barrier of distance, and helps humans to keep in touch wherever and whenever. For another, it is Internet that does not enables family members, friends or classmates to

communicate more in a face—to—face way. One case in point is that youngsters may spend hours chatting with acquaintances through QQ or MSN, but rarely do they talk with other face to face. Unfortunately, it we let this trend to continue as it is, the interpersonal relationship will, definitely, become alienated or indifferent.

To my understanding, it is advisable for people to

communicate more with their families, friends and acquaintances in real life instead of merely through the Internet. Do bear in mind: Internet is just a tool. (213words)

2013年6月六级作文范文一

It is not exaggerating to say that habits determine how much a person can achieve. This is due to the magical power that habits have. It can redouble the effort of our daily behavior.

Take this for example: if you recite one word every day, you will add 365 words to your vocabulary by one year, and 700 words by two years, and 1400 words before graduation which is by far beyond the curricular of CET-6. While if you spend two hours on playing computer games—which is far less than how much time is spent in r

eality for college students—you will probably get addicted to it and fail your study. This phenomenon can be easily found in the college that it is high time for us to be aware of the importance of habits. We should cultivate good habits and get rid of the bad habits such as staying up late, being addicted to games, consuming extravagantly, etc as soon as possible.

Rome was not built in one day. We can accumulate a great fortune by the tiny efforts we made every day. From now on say good bye to the bad habits and stick to the good ones, we will enjoy a profitable return in the future.

2013年6月六级作文范文二 Good habit result …

Good habits are a valuable thing and a bridge reaching desirable results. Evidently, good habits include teamwork, optimistic attitude, confidence and so on. It is well known that teamwork always leaves us less mean-spirited and more inclusive. Again, optimistic attitude and confidence can encourage us to never give up and find silver linings in desperate situations.

Why should we actively cultivate good habits? For one thing, good

habits can jump our trains of thought onto correct tracks, in turn, we can bypass the wrong path. For another thing, persisting what we are good at and doing even more of it creates excellence. This is where developing good habits comes in.

As a result, we should take some effective steps to cultivate our good habits. For instance, we can frequently inform young people that opportunities for errors abound, so we must develop good habits to cope with them. To sum up, we cannot deny it that good habits do carry a positive connotation.

2013年6月六级英语考试作文参考范文三 A smile is the shortest distance between two people

Mark Twain once said, “The human race has one really effective weapon, and that is laughter.”A smile will unconsciously pull short distance between hearts, which is the charm of a smile. So never stop smiling, even when you are sad, for someone might fall in love with your smile.

Undoubtedly, it is smile that keeps us continually shortening the distance among people. When you fall down, a smile from others will bring you the power to stand up. Besides, smile is a name card w

hich will make the people around you feel comfortable and pave the way for you to make good friends. When you feel disappointed with the life and get heartbroken with the love, just smile, it's a good medicine for your hurt soul. Were there no smile, never would we taste a happy and healthy life.

Consequently, from what has been discussed above, it can be safely concluded that a smile is beneficial for us bridge gaps of social interaction and sweep disorders of human communication.

Ways to Get Over Information Explosion

As a famous saying goes, “A wealth of information creates a poverty of attention”. Nowadays we are in the Information Age. Some people keep complaining about distraction by the information explosion.

Admittedly, the new information age has brought us so much convenience that we are allowed to get enough information just with a simple click sitting in front of the computers. Nevertheless, we are also confused, annoyed, distracted and upset by an incredibly large quantity of information. For example, when searching for something online, people are easily carried away by irrelevant information and forget their original plan. Besides, some information often turns out to be useless and is actually advertisement. Therefore, it can be time-consuming and troublesome to search information online.

Then what we can do to avoid being distracted by irrelevant information? Here I have some useful tips: Firstly, make a list of what you really want before your searching. This will help you to refuse some appealing, yet irrelevant information. Secondly, find some trustful and professional sources or websites and then save and categorize them. In this case, you can easily leave some ads and useless information behind.

why it is unwise to judge a personby their appearance.

There is a Chinese saying goeslike this: men cannot be judged by their looks. I cannot agree with this pointof view any more. On the one hand, though a charmingappearance will leave a good impression on others, one’s look can seldom reflects his or her qualities, capacities andethics. We cannot say those who are good-looking are more capable and morecultivated than those who are average-looking or ugly-looking. There are somany people who do not have good appearances have made great achievements forthe progress of mankind, such as Stephen William Hawking who are even crippled. On the other hand, our appearances are decided by ou

r genes, which are inborn, while our qualities can be cultivated as we grow. We can enrich our minds bylearning, but which cannot be reflected on the appearances.

To summarize, judging people byappearance is unwise. Therefore I suggest that we should focus on one’s inner world rather than their appearance.

参考作文2:

Why is it unwise to jump intoconclusions upon seeing or hearing?

Living in an age when theadolescents are lack of the necessary guidance and supervision, we can neverfail to figure out the fact that teenagers are become especiallyself-conscious. Under this circumstance, the youngsters are more likely tobelieve in what they have listened or seen instead of thinking twice beforedrawing their conclusions, which is pathetically and undoubtedly consideredcontroversial or even unreasonable.

The reasons why I insist on theviewpoint that we should never directly and irresponsibly come to conclusionsonly by listening or seeing mainly lie in the following two aspects. To beginwith, it is a invariable law to every existence in the world that nothing willstay still even for just one second. So are the things happening around us.

Whatwe see or listen may be just some particular period of the development ofthings, which proves unstable and changeable. In addition, the perspectives weconclude just through seeing or listening are usually one-sided. Drawingconclusions rashly is not objective enough to make our statements persuasive. To sum up, it is unwise for us todefine any thing as what we assume or imagine at first sight. Only by ourserious thinking and accurate analyzing can we come up with more rational and reasonable conclusions.

qualities an employer should look for in job applicant. You should give sound arguments to support your views and write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.

According to the picture, an employer turns down a job applicant, for his degree is less advanced than the other applicants, even though he has a good resume. Actually, what’s behind the cartoon is the tendency that employers focus on academic performance when hiring.

No one disputes that a college or higher degree opens doors. Despite that, as far as I’m concerned, academic degree should not be the primary criteria in selecting talents. First of all, academic degrees only represent the applicants’ proficiency in their school work, and cannot demonstrate their personality or other abilities. For instance, the responsibility of a human resources manager is to deal with people, and thus it requires advanced people skill which is by no means shown in the diploma. Second, emphasis on degrees may stall the development of the company. They will lose real talents if they judge people only by their educational background, while it is often the case that college drop-outs like Bill Gates, Michael Dell, Steve Jobs, etc., run wildly successful enterprises.

Therefore, instead of running after applicants with higher degrees, companies shouldbecome more concerned about what it takes to do the job and what a college education actually provides. 2014年12月英语六级作文真题范文2:学历歧视 【真题范文】

In the modern society, with competition becomes increasingly fierce, to find a job is too difficult for the young generation. Academic qualification, as a job a stepping-stone, is an essential factor during the job hunting.

Some people think that the highly educated must be able to find a good job, because education can prove that a person has a good capacity. Therefore, it is commonly believe that a job seeker with a master degree must be easier to find a promising job than a undergraduate. However, now the company interviewers generally prefer to required a even higher academic qualification, like a doctor degree. Otherwise, the applicants, even though he or she has tremendous potential, will be refused relentlessly.

As far as I am concerned, education should not be the single standard in an interview. As for the companies, it is not necessarily a good principle as well. Now the whole community often talk about working ability and efficiency. For example, some people may have high academic qualification, but actually his ability is

very limited. So both the individual and the community ought to change their attitude on academic qualification. We should realize that it is the operational capability and service ability which can help you to find a good job.
