PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor drive unit that can easily and constantlyfeed power, even with respect to a load request that abruptly changes.

SOLUTION: A control part a generates a signal Uc and outputs it to a voltagecommand calculating part 61a so that electrostatic energy Uc stored in a capacitor holdsa threshold or larger, when a torque command value TR received from an external ECUlies within a prescribed variation range. The voltage command operation part 61adetermines a target voltage Vdc_com of a boosting converter 12 being an inter-terminalvoltage of a capacitor C2 on the basis of the signal Uc; whereas, the control part adetermines power fed to an inverter 14 from a DC power supply B and outputs a signalPb so that power is fed to an inverter 14 from the capacitor C2, preferenlly to the DCpower supply B, when the torque command value TR does lie within the prescribedvariation range. The voltage command operation part 61a determines the target voltageVdc_com on the basis of the signal Pb.
